Barkley to the Browns?

Cleveland Ohio Oh Downtown Business Touris

The Cleveland Browns have to take Saquon Barkley number one overall in this year's draft.  They can't pass up on what could be the next big running back in the NFL.  His combine numbers are off the charts, and he was an explosive playmaker at Penn State.  If the Browns pass on him or trade out of the first pick I think they are making a huge mistake.  Picking Barkley could finally turn their franchise around.  Even better for the Browns is the fact that they also have the fourth pick in the draft.  That means that if they take Barkley at number one, they should also be able to get one of the top three quarterbacks in this years class; Josh Allen, Sam Darnold, or Josh Rosen.  If the Browns manage to avoid somehow screwing these two picks up, they could get a franchise quarterback and running back all within the first four picks of the draft.  If they do go with Barkley and one of those three quarterbacks and those players pan out, the Browns could become a serious threat in the AFC, especially with the talent they already have on their team.

2017-18 Bowl Predictions

Bowl season is here, with the first game kicking off on Saturday, December 16 at noon.  Below our my predictions for all 38 games (picking both the opening spread and final score predictions), as well as the college football playoff.

In terms of a global scale, soccer is considered the most popular sport.  In the United States, however, with the exception of the World Cup I feel that it is at best the fourth or fifth most popular sport to watch in the country.

The College Football Playoff: Why It Should Be 16 Teams

While the 4 team playoff that was implemented a few seasons ago is a start, I think it still needs to expand more and I think the magic number is 16. A 16 team playoff to me just makes sense. Currently there are 10 conferences in the football bowl subdivision: American Athletic Conference, Atlantic Coast Conference, Big Ten Conference, Big 12 Conference, Conference USA, Mid-American Conference, Mountain West Conference, Pac-12 Conference, Southeastern Conference, and Sun Belt Conference. There are also 3 Independent school who currently have no conference affiliation, and those are UMass, Army, Notre Dame, and BYU. To have the teams and conferences evenly distributed, I think these teams will need to join a conference to be eligible for the playoff.

College Football Bowl Season Is Upon Us

It's the most meaningless season of the year.  The college football bowl season is getting out of hand.  Excluding the college football playoff games, there are now 38 bowl games.   Ranging from the Celebration Bowl and the Dollar General Bowl, to the prestigious Citrus Bowl and Orange Bowl.  That means that 80 out of a total of 128 teams get to play in a postseason bowl game.  In previous seasons its been a struggle

It's the Patriot Way

Stop me if you've heard this before, but I'm not sure if anyone can beat the New England Patriots in the playoffs this season.  On paper, this team's offense feels like the pure definition of unstoppable.  With the likes of future hall of famer Rob Gronkowski at tight end, explosive Brandin Cooks at wide-out who seems to be getting better every week, productive slot receiver Danny Amendola, Chris Hogan who has become a big play threat, and what seems like an unlimited number of running backs at their disposal, there is almost an endless number of ways this team can't be stopped.  And oh yeah, I forgot to mention,

Rookie QB's in the NFL

The narrative that quarterbacks shouldn't start in their rookie season in the NFL seems to be almost non-existent these days, or at least I think it should be.  For many years there seemed to be a philosophy that a young quarterback would come in and sit behind a more experienced guy and learn how to be a professional quarterback as a backup.  The pendulum seems to have shifted more towards throwing a guy to the wolves from the beginning these days.  I think this says two things about the quarterbacks in the NFL.

Bracket Seeding Predictions 3.0

Lots of shuffling in the seedings after there were 2 upsets in the Big 12 tournament.  Kansas was upset by TCU 85-82 and Kansas State knocked off Baylor 70-64.  I think Kansas will still be a number one, but I think overall Villanova and North Carolina surpass them on the 1 line.  I also think the win by TCU puts them in the field of 68 in a play-in game against Providence.  I think Baylor’s
